OverviewThe role will suit a dynamic and versatile Senior Product Owner / Manager with at 5-10 years experience working in API-first environments and at least 3 years of experience specifically with Payments / open banking implementations. We’re looking for someone with strong API product ownership, technical business analysis and technical API documentation experience. You will cover and lead end-to-end lifecycle of Products from requirements gathering to sprint execution, product delivery to high-quality documentation.The person we are looking for is comfortable working autonomously whilst also highly collaborative; we are a small team with a broad remit and everyone is expected and required to be able to work flexibly and respond to short-notice changes to our plans. You will also manage one role, a hybrid product analyst and delivery manager.Key Responsibilities and ActivitiesProduct ownership and analysisWork with stakeholders to validate requirements, translating these into functional requirements for the technical architect team.Specifically own the technical specifications of the Standards relating to Read/Write APls, Open data API, Directory specifications and Dynamic client registration.Promote development of our Standards regarding open banking and open finance, including contributing to thought pieces and speaking at external engagements to support internal strategy, and contribute to discussions regarding Standards within the remit of the Long Term Regulatory Framework and Future Entity.Engage with other industry bodies, particularly Pay.UK regarding ISO 20022.Develop and own internal framework documentation to support development and maintenance of Standards.Map and document end-to-end data lineage from ISO 20022 message structures, ensuring traceability, compliance, and accurate impact assessment for proposed API changes.Technical DocumentationWork with lead architect to translate complex technical concepts, protocols, and workflows (e.g., OAuth2, webhooks, JSON schemas) into clear documentation for both internal and external audiences.Includes technical specifications, Open API ("swagger") files, and supporting Customer Experience and Operational Guidelines.Work with and review technical authors to write and maintain clear, accurate, and developer friendly documentation (e.g., API references, integration guides, release notes).Collaborate with architect to ensure documentation reflects API functionality.Experience and KnowledgeProven experience of Product management / Product Ownership end-to-end API delivery in a technical/ APl-focused environment.Strong experience in pamyents ideally worked on open banking implementations using our Standards, either at an ASPSP or TPP or TSP.It is essential to have been responsible for shaping technical documentation as a with experience developing and assuring an organisation's "voice" through its documentation.Strong understanding of RESTful APls, JSON, and common API standards (OpenAPI/Swagger).Experience with data modelling tools, Confluence, JIRA, GitHub, and API documentation platforms (e.g., Stoplight, Redoc, SwaggerHub).Must be familiar with ISO 20022 and with major UK payment systems (FPS, CHAPS etc.)Exposure to Open Banking APls and Directory services, OAuth2, API Gateway technologies, legacy banking platforms or developer platforms.Knowledge of the CMA Order, JROC, smart data legislation (e.g. Data (Use and Access) Bill) and European trends in open bankingFamiliarity with Cl/CD, DevOps processes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).Interest in and awareness of key trends in digital banking, open finance and smart data, and Al as it pertains to paymentsThe ideal candidate will have managed teams/scrums including business analysts, UX designers and copywriters beforeSeniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionProduct Management and Information TechnologyIndustries: Financial Services and Technology, Information and MediaWe’re removing boilerplate mentions and external posting noise to focus on the core responsibilities and requirements of the role.
