Tesco Shift Leader – Days – Briton Ferry Express Join to apply for the Tesco Shift Leader - Days - Briton Ferry Express role at Tesco. Pay & Hours Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 per hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. We offer a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours per week, with flexible 12‑hour options. Availability windows: Friday 14:15‑23:15, Saturday 14:15‑23:15. Responsibilities Work in a fast‑paced retail environment, with bags of variety Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations Be there for customers, listening to them and helping to make sure they leave the store with what they came for Look for ways to improve service, including coaching your colleagues and giving feedback to the team Guide and support your colleagues in‑store, ensuring the place stays safe for work and shop Maintain a great understanding of how your store is performing, and assist managers in delivering actions that improve running of the store Lead from the front, setting a great example for your colleagues in everything you do Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience for customers Supporting colleagues, ensuring they deliver daily priorities and take regular breaks Opening and closing the store, completing duty cover, ensuring all decisions made are right for everyone's safety Being the go‑to person for colleagues in the absence of a manager for day‑to‑day queries Keeping the team well‑informed and up to speed on any communications, changes, or updates Staying knowledgeable about store performance, looking for ways to improve and simplify operations Coordinating store improvements, removing obstacles that might beat great service Following health and safety routines and procedures, ensuring colleagues do the same Recognising and celebrating colleagues within the team who provide great service Requirements Be a great role model, always giving thoughtful customer service that meets customers' needs Build strong, inclusive relationships with colleagues to create a positive team environment Communicate clearly, using a variety of methods to keep the team informed Take the lead and oversee the store in the absence of the Manager Make flexible decisions and handle change to ensure everything is right for customers and colleagues Motivate and inspire the team to deliver beyond expectations Be curious, looking for ideas and opportunities to serve customers, communities, and the planet better every day Be 18 or over; additional age requirements apply for early‑morning or late‑night shifts, or roles involving specific areas such as warehouse or bakery What's in it for you?
