This role is perfect for a hands‑on leader who can combine technical excellence with clear planning, strong safety standards.Role overviewYou will work in the engineering section of the workshop, reporting to the head of department and also taking ownership of day‑to‑day delivery and longer‑term planning for metalwork and allied builds. Youll ensure projects are produced accurately to technical drawings, delivered on schedule and to budget, while nurturing a motivated, capable team and continuously improving methods and safety practice.Key responsibilitiesHelp lead fabrication teams to produce accurate, fit‑for‑purpose metalwork and assemblies from technical drawings and specifications.Assist with creating, managing and tracking the departments project schedule in coordination with workshop operations.Maintain and improve health, safety and environmental practices across the department; ensure compliance and correct PPE usage.Oversee the maintenance, safe operation and inventory of departmental tools and machinery.Help drive staff development: implementing training plans, overseeing apprenticeships, inductions and mentoring.Support on‑site build activities when required and coordinate build handovers to client sites.Promote positive team culture, good communication and high morale within the department.About youessential & desirableProven background in scenic / architectural / industrial fabrication with strong hands‑on MIG and TIG welding skills (essential).Relevant welding or engineering qualifications (NVQ, coded welding) are highly desirable.Track record of interpreting complex technical drawings and translating them into accurate builds.Solid knowledge of materials and construction techniques used in scenic and event fabrication.Experience of planning and scheduling workshop workloads and leading small teams on site.Strong working knowledge of workshop H&S; recognised H&S qualifications welcome.Good IT literacy (Windows and cloud‑based office tools).Calm, organised, decisive and a collaborative team player under pressure.BenefitsCycle‑to‑work schemeChoice of enhanced pension contribution or private healthcare allowanceSeason ticket loanHow to applyPlease apply using the details below, and include an up to date CV.TPBN1_UKTJ #J-18808-Ljbffr
