As a Treasurer/Finance Trustee you will bring your understanding of charity finance to the board and help shape our future vision. Role overview:You will play a key role in maintaining the financial viability of the charity, presenting budgets, overseeing financial controls, liaising with the Chief Executive, and advising on strategic financial risk. Your expertise will help us maximise investments and assets and ensure compliance with statutory bodies. Responsibilities Oversee the presentation of budgets, internal management accounts, and annual financial statements to the Board of Trustees. Ensure proper accounting records are kept and appropriate procedures and controls are in place. Develop and implement robust financial policies, including reserves, cost management, and risk management processes. Monitor and advise on the charity’s financial viability. Oversee financial controls, liaise regularly with the Chief Executive, and ensure adherence to systems. Advising on financial implications of the strategic plan and overseeing the charity’s financial risk‑management process. Maximise investments and assets. Lead on the appointment of and liaison with external auditors. Oversee the development and implementation of systems for appraising, mitigating, and reporting corporate risk. Ensure accounts are prepared and disclosed to relevant statutory bodies (e.g., Charity Commission, Registrar of Companies). Finance Committee Responsibilities Update, report, and make recommendations on all financial and risk‑management matters. Annual budget and cash‑flow forecast. Management accounts and cash flow. Signing of statutory accounts. Annual independent examination. Risk register and reporting. All relevant financial management policies and procedures. Qualifications Finance professional with experience or knowledge of charity finance (advantage). Strategic thinker able to balance risk and opportunity. Clear communicator who can bring financial information alive to non‑finance specialists. Willingness to play an active role in forecasting, budgeting, and liaising with auditors. What will you be doing? Maintain an overview of Afrikindness’s financial affairs, provide financial oversight and strategic direction, and implement effective financial controls and procedures. You will support the Board of Trustees, drive financial decision‑making, and serve as Honorary Treasurer if required. Your knowledge of charity finance will be critical as we mature and expand globally.
