Orchard Vets is a small animal first‑opinion practice based in Romsey and is the town’s longest‑standing veterinary practice. Romsey benefits from excellent transport links, including local bus services and a train station with connections to Southampton, Salisbury and Winchester. The town’s charming atmosphere, independent shops and strong community spirit are complemented by nearby countryside and a short drive to the coast. Our friendly and experienced team comprises 7 vets and 7 RVNs plus 2 SVNs across two sites. Within the team we have certificate holders in emergency medicine and surgery, with one vet currently completing a soft tissue surgery certificate and nurses pursuing certificates in anaesthesia and emergency & critical care. Our practice is well‑equipped with an on‑site laboratory, digital X‑ray and a state‑of‑the‑art operating theatre, enabling us to offer the majority of diagnostic investigations and surgical procedures in‑house. We operate a five‑week rolling schedule featuring a mix of shift patterns, including some staff working four 10‑hour days and others a combination of long and short days, within core hours of 8:00 am–7:00 pm. The rota includes one Saturday morning (8:30 am–12:30 pm) in five. There is no on‑call or out‑of‑hours work allowing a great work‑life balance.
