WRK digital are thrilled to be partnered with Skipton Building Society supporting the growth of their cloud engineering and architecture functions. As they expand their Cloud Engineering team, they are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer who will manage, optimize and help evolve their cloud based IT services. As Senior Cloud Engineer, you will oversee the operation of their Azure cloud environment, ensuring its efficiency, security, and scalability. You will be driving automation, implementing best practices, and ensuring the highest levels of service performance. Additionally, you will help mentor the more junior members of the team to assist with their skill development and growth within their careers. Responsibilities Leading the automation, monitoring, and management of the Azure environment, ensuring operational efficiency and flexibility. Monitoring cloud performance against service level agreements (SLAs) and make recommendations for optimisation to maximise resource utilisation. Ensuring that cloud services are configured in line with governance policies to mitigate risks, maintain compliance, and safeguard sensitive data. Providing technical guidance and act as a source of escalation for complex operational issues and incidents. Leading by example in fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team culture, supporting both individual and team goals. Keeping up to date with the latest trends and advancements in cloud technologies, bringing innovative solutions and improvements to the organisation. Working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the cloud services meets the organisation’s evolving needs, communicating information at a technical and non-technical level. Qualifications Exceptional ability to influence stakeholders effectively and simplify complex technical concepts for a non-technical audience. Excellent understandings of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS). The ability to interpret architectural design, collaborating and challenging to develop new design solutions and patterns. Expert knowledge of core services like compute, storage, databases, and networking. Applying security measures and monitoring for threats. Experience developing and delivering cloud-based solutions. Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Confidence to mentor other team members on best practices and new technologies, ensuring the team is well-prepared to address challenges, optimise performance, and successfully execute workloads.
