Deputy Head Grounds Person

40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year Salary: £27,980 We are seeking to appoint an astute and dependable Deputy Head Grounds Person to work as part of a team to ensure that the site is maintained to the highest possible standards in accordance with the contract and good horticulture practice for the enjoyment, recreation and safety of site employees and visitors. Please note that due to the nature of the position, a valid driving license is required. As a Deputy Head Grounds Person your responsibilities would include: Deputise for the Foreman/Supervisor/Head Groundsman in his/her absence or as directed by them. Undertake training and instruction of newer and less experienced team members To undertake the full range of grounds maintenance duties as instructed by your line manager as follows: Horticultural operations including formative pruning for a range of plants, annual seasonal bedding operations, pest & disease control, general grass cutting, watering of trees, shrubs and bedding plants Hedge cutting, irrigation, strimming, edge reformation. Litter picking operations. Weed control. To work as part of a team with the aim of ensuring productive and professional relationships within team, with other employees, managers, clients and external agencies. What we are looking for: City and Guilds/NVQ Amenity Horticulture Stage I and II or equivalent (essential) HND Amenity Horticulture or equivalent (essential) RHS General Horticulture or equivalent (essential) National Certificate in Horticulture or equivalent (essential) PA1/PA6 in Spraying (essential) Holds valid driving licence preferably with legal and practical ability to use a trailer (essential) Chainsaw Certificate (desirable) The School offers its own generous salary scale and an enhanced benefits scheme including an employee assistance programme, meal provision and enhanced pension contribution.
