The role supports high standards of care for our patients, embraces trust values, demonstrates excellent communication skills and adopts a flexible approach to work. Job responsibilities Preparation of foodstuffs and general cleaning of equipment and areas within the Catering Department. Preparation and service of food to patients on wards, visitors and staff in the dining room. Operating in the central dish wash area: operating the machine, cleaning, drying and checking of crockery and cutlery. Receiving, checking for quality, temperature and correct quantity of supplies according to supplier orders and storing them within the time limits set by HACCP policy. Checking food temperature levels and compliance with Food Temperature Regulations. Preparation of vegetables, fruits and salads; preparation and dispatch of meals. Service of food in ward areas and in the Dining Room; preparation of sandwiches, hot snacks and beverages where applicable. Cleaning and re‑stacking vending machines. Operation of the Staff Dining Room cash register. Maintaining appropriate image/appearance suitable for service needs. Being self‑reliant, flexible in working arrangements to cover holidays and sickness, and working across all areas of the Catering Department when required. Cleaning premises and equipment to the required standard, ensuring compliance with the Food Hygiene Policy and Codes of Practice. Adhering to Health and Safety procedures of the Hospital and Hotel Services Department. Participating in training programmes related to efficiency, hygiene, fire drills, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant courses. Qualifications Basic Food Hygiene and/or Level 1 Food Safety Certificate – must be achieved within 6 months of start date. Basic Numeracy & Literate Skills. NVQ Level 1 or 2. GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent). Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and will require a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
