Principal Designer

Job Summary Operating as a Principal Designer, you will deliver CDM consultancy services for varied clients to support them in fulfilling their duties under CDM 2015 regulations. You'll manage your own time, learning from your experiences to plan ahead whilst overseeing construction project and programme health and safety across multiple live schemes. This is an excellent CDM advisor opportunity for an ambitious Principal Designer to lead construction health and safety compliance initiatives with impact across residential, commercial and infrastructure builds throughout the UK. The scope of services delivered by the Principal Designer are flexible, dependent upon the client's requirements covering both CDM and H&S management, and could include acting as Principal Designer, CDM Advisor (CDMA) or providing wider construction safety consultancy support. Responsibilities Deliver CDM consultancy for varied clients to support them in delivering their duties under CDM 2015 Oversee construction project and programme H&S management Carry out H&S performance and management diagnostic 'gap analysis' reviews, audits and assessments for clients (e.g. of their own operations, their projects or their supplier activities) Develop Client H&S continual improvement programmes and oversee their effective delivery across construction portfolios Establish positive relations with existing clients to gain their confidence and become the focal point for communication on CDM compliance matters Represent our client in a professional and diligent manner (both personally and technically) Undertake duties as required in identifying and delivering new opportunities and business development in the region Liaise proactively and professionally with colleagues to contribute to team effectiveness and support others Maintain and develop personnel competence to meet the demands of both the business and clients through continuous professional development Qualifications To be successful in this Principal Designer job in Nottingham, you will bring proven experience as a CDM Principal Designer with a diverse range of industry sector knowledge and strong construction site H&S experience. Proven experience as a CDM Principal Designer or Principal Designer within the construction consultancy or built environment sector Experience of a diverse range of industry sectors desired but must have construction site H&S experience Membership at some level of the Association of Project Safety (APS) GradIOSH (or TechIOSH - if actively working towards GradIOSH) Strong knowledge base including building control approvals and construction consultancy services Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Strong people management and leadership skills Excellence in both Professional Services and Construction Services delivery Delivery of work outputs within set time frames Good IT skills and competence in Microsoft Office suite to generate own reports Ability to effectively plan and organise own workload to meet deadlines Team player capable of a flexible approach who can manage individuals and work collaboratively with colleagues Energetic and self‑motivated with attention to detail A confident individual who is aware of their abilities and limitations A motivated individual who asks questions, listens to and 'hears' answers, defines problems and uses initiative to implement solutions Company & Culture We're hiring for a Principal Designer in Nottingham to join a UK‑leading construction consultancy delivering CDM advisory services across commercial, residential and public sector schemes throughout the UK.
