Senior Electrical Design Engineer

Salary: Up to £60,000

About the Role

Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their Cambridge office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across the commercial, residential, healthcare, and industrial sectors, contributing to innovative and sustainable design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design Leadership: Deliver detailed electrical designs, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security systems, and renewable energy solutions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  2. Project Management: Lead and manage electrical engineering projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver tailored solutions.
  4. Technical Oversight: Review and approve designs and calculations from junior engineers to ensure quality.
  5. Mentorship: Support the development of junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  6. Sustainability: Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices into all project designs.
  7. Site Support: Attend client meetings and site visits to ensure alignment between design and implementation.

Skills & Qualifications

  1. Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent (Chartered Engineer status preferred or working towards it).
  2. Proven experience in electrical design within a consultancy or similar environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, Building Regulations).
  4. Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, and Dialux.
  5. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and lead project teams.
  6. A passion for sustainability and experience with renewable energy technologies is desirable.
