Medical Assistant, Patriot Pediatrics, MGH Join Mass General Brigham as a Medical Assistant to support healthcare teams at Patriot Pediatrics. You will assist with both clinical and non‑clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers. SummaryKey responsibilities include taking vital signs, documenting patient information, scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and collaborating with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care. Essential Functions Assists junior Medical Assistants with day‑to‑day questions and responsibilities, and helps facilitate their learning by participating in onboarding training. Shows patients to examination rooms, prepares necessary equipment, and interviews patients for medical information; measures vital signs, weight, and height, and records data in the patient’s medical record. Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, and organizes educational materials to reinforce patient education. Performs general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms; acts as a liaison with other departments and advocates for patients with a positive customer service approach. Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs them, and prepares them for testing; performs phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated. Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates. Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider. Is responsible for improving appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as patient identifiers and hand hygiene. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in Medical Assisting preferred. Licenses and Credentials BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) – Various issuers preferred. Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) – Various issuers preferred. Experience Direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field work 1–2 years required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to prioritize tasks in complex and busy environments. Accuracy and attention to detail. Compliance with all local, state, and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations. Ability to take vital signs, manual blood pressure, and collect blood samples and other specimens. Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and protocols. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical office software. Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Managing one’s own time and the time of others.
