Job Overview This is a great opportunity for an experienced Clinical Psychologist seeking to develop their clinical leadership skills. We are looking for a compassionate leader for a highly valued role in our child and adolescent neurodevelopment service, to work closely with senior leads and the diverse multidisciplinary team to drive innovation and service development at a time when there is keen recognition of the changing needs of our neurodiverse population. You will lead complex neurodevelopmental assessments for children across Gwynedd and Anglesey, working closely with our team—particularly when managing highly complex factors to build clinical formulations and make diagnostic decisions. Your advanced skills in teaching, supervision, and training, as well as contributing an informed psychological perspective in multidisciplinary team working, will be vital. We value close working with local child and adolescent learning disability and mental health services and our multi‑agency partners. We have a close connection with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme. We are looking for a compassionate and collaborative leader, able to inspire and support others, and promote a culture of learning and innovation. Main Duties Provide a highly specialised clinical psychology service, offering specialised psychological assessment and therapy. Hold designated responsibility for the systematic governance of sector staff’s psychological practice to ensure high‑quality service delivery. Exercise delegated responsibility for the management and supervision of staff up to and including Senior level, including staff appraisal/PADR. Contribute to the development of local team policies and procedures to improve service quality. Advise service and professional management on psychological and organisational matters. Provide clinical placements and supervision for Doctoral‑level trainee psychologists and deliver training to other professionals. Utilise highly specialised research skills for audit, policy, service development, and research. Act as a panel member in the recruitment of designated staff, as appropriate. Assist the Consultant Clinical Psychologist or Head of Child Psychology, together with other senior staff, in the efficient day‑to‑day management of the service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply. Person Specification Qualifications Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent for those trained prior to 1996), accredited by the British Psychological Society. Registration with Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist. Clinical supervision training for supervising Doctoral trainees. Experience Substantial assessed experience as a qualified and senior clinical psychologist, normally including significant post‑qualification experience within the designated speciality. Demonstrated specialist training/experience through extensive and demonstrable clinical supervision as a specialist Clinical Psychologist. Experience of specialised psychological assessment and treatment of a range of clients across a wide range of care settings. Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and coordinating care within multidisciplinary planning. Experience of providing teaching, training, and/or professional and clinical supervision. Aptitude And Abilities High level of competence within the designated speciality. Well‑developed skills in supervising other staff, including Trainee Clinical Psychologists. Well‑developed skills in communicating complex, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information orally and in writing to clients, families, carers, and professionals. Developed skills in providing consultation to other professional and non‑professional groups. Essential and Desirable Criteria Essential Post‑graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, registration with HCPC. Substantial experience as a senior clinical psychologist with specialist training. Experience of assessment, treatment, supervision, and multidisciplinary coordination. Desirable Recognised qualification in supervision. Record of publications in peer‑reviewed journals or books. Experience of professional management of qualified clinical psychologists. Ability to speak Welsh. Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
