Job Overview Part time permanent position – 234 hours per academic year (6 hours per week over 39 weeks). Working pattern to be agreed with the Chair of Governors. Grade 4 (£3,574 pro‑rata). Overtime paid at the same rate. Start date to be agreed with successful candidate. We are looking to appoint a Clerk to the Governors with strong organisational and administrative skills to join our friendly, welcoming secondary school. The post involves record keeping, preparation of and circulating agendas, attending meetings and taking minutes, liaising with Governors and working with the Chair in managing the smooth and efficient running of the Governing Body. Additional meetings may occasionally be required during the school day. Learning about governance will be part of the role and full training can be arranged to support you. All duties will be expected to be carried out according to agreed School Policies and Procedures, with due regard given to appropriate confidentiality concerning school matters at all times. The Clerk to the Governors will report to the Chair of Governors for strategic tasks and to the Operations Manager for operational duties. Responsibilities Ensure Governors are appropriately trained to undertake their roles effectively. Ensure Governors are given appropriate procedural advice. Embody the Christian ethos and underpinning elements of the school. Record keeping, preparing and circulating agendas. Attend meetings and take accurate minutes. Assist in coordinating information for Governors and keeping them up to date with local and national developments. Ideal Candidate (Qualifications & Skills) Experience of taking minutes at meetings, assimilating key information and preparing letters in line with strict deadlines. Good ICT skills, including Microsoft Word and email; strong communication and literacy skills. Proactive in coordinating information for Governors and staying abreast of latest local and national developments. Resilient, assertive, and showing great initiative. Excellent interpersonal skills and keen to work as part of a team. Understand and abide by the high level of discretion required for the confidential nature of the role at all times.
