Job Overview As a Support Manager in the Trauma and Orthopaedics department within the NMSK Division, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective management of inpatient services. You will work closely with consultants, administrative teams and service managers to coordinate patient pathways, schedule elective and urgent admissions, optimise theatre lists, manage performance data, and support service improvement programmes. Main Duties Managing inpatient waiting lists and booking processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency. Managing RTT pathways, ensuring compliance with NHS targets and reducing delays. Theatre scheduling and maximising theatre utilisation to improve service delivery. Collaborating with the Outpatient Support Manager to ensure effective utilisation of all service areas and provide cross‑cover when required. Producing reports and analysing data to track performance and identify areas for improvement. Liaising with consultants, waiting list coordinators and operational teams to ensure smooth patient pathways. Managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensuring service targets are met. Supporting the implementation of service improvements and pathway redesign initiatives to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency. Contributing to workforce planning, recruitment and staff development within the department. Ensuring compliance with NHS policies, clinical governance and health & safety standards. Person Specification Education / Training / Qualifications Degree or relevant experience. Evidence of continuing professional development. Work Experience Experience of staff management and recruitment within a clinical service. Experience of managing an elective waiting list. Experience of managing RTT pathways. Experience of leading the implementation of service changes to enhance service efficiency and delivery of patient pathways. Experience of working collaboratively with external providers. Experience of delivering service performance targets. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. Excellent leadership skills with the ability to enthuse, motivate and involve individuals and teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge and application of NHS policies, BNSSG Access Policy and RTT pathway management. Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external colleagues. Ability to manage and prioritise tasks effectively while handling competing demands. IT literate and competent in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook. Additional Information Working from home will be limited but can be discussed at interview.
