Self-Employed Groundworks Contracts Manager Location: East Midlands ideally based in Northamptonshire or Leicestershire Rate: £300 £400 per day (DOE)Vehicle & fuel card provided where applicable Contract Type: Self-employed (long-term opportunity) Start Date: ASAP Company looking to have this person in place for January Company Overview This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, privately-owned groundworks and civil engineering contractor in the East Midlands. Established for just over 6years, the business currently employs around 40 operatives and has a strong secured pipeline for 2026. Projects typically include: Care homes Residential developments Industrial units / warehouses Associated infrastructure and external works The business is now looking for an experienced Contracts Manager who can help take the company to the next level and form part of the senior operational team. Role Overview The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing multiple groundworks and civil engineering packages, working across both site and office environments. This role requires a rare combination of strong groundworks knowledge PLUS strong IT / systems competency. You will be involved in: Overseeing multiple sites and site teams Attending pre-start and progress meetings Programming works using Microsoft Project Producing RAMS and supporting documentation Co-ordinating road applications and permits Reviewing and interpreting technical drawings Managing sub-contractors and suppliers Working closely with Directors and Clients Handover and completion of packages Using Dropbox / OneDrive to manage documents and drawings This is a hands-on and varied role requiring excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills. Essential Requirements Proven experience as a Contracts Manager / Project Manager within groundworks & civil engineeringStrong understanding of: Groundworks packages Drainage Foundations Infrastructure works External worksSSSTS or SMSTS (essential)Ability to prepare: RAMS Weekly / Monthly programmes Site reportsStrong IT skills, including: Microsoft Project Dropbox or OneDrive Reading & managing construction drawingsBased in or willing to cover: Northants / Leicestershire / East MidlandsValid driving licence A mixed background across residential, care homes and industrial builds is highly desirable.
