Hydrologist - Senior/Principal (WINEP and Water Resources)We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior or Principal Hydrologist to join our Sustainable Water Management team. This role leads and contributes to high-profile Water Industry Natural Environment Programme (WINEP) and Water Resources Management Plan (WRMP) projects across the UK.WSP is embarking on a significant programme of AMP8 WINEP projects for multiple high-profile UK water companies. The projects are geographically and environmentally diverse. We are also leading Environmental Destination projects across the UK and supporting water companies with developing hydrology for their WRMPs.Your team: Our Catchment Science team works across water resources and water security, hydrology and hydraulics, water quality, hydroecology and hydrogeology. We provide high-quality technical services and advice to government departments and agencies, the water industry, and other sectors including power, transport, nuclear, mining, commercial, and oil and gas.What we are looking for:A track record of contributing to the hydrology and water management elements of WINEP investigations and WRMP inputs in recent AMP cycles.Experience in the development of rainfall–runoff models and model calibration techniques.Solid understanding of hydrology approaches for water resources applications in England and Wales.Familiarity with demand management and water resources modelling approaches.Understanding of current UK water resources management regulations including the Water Resources Planning Guidelines and WINEP guidance such as Preventing Deterioration and Environmental Destination.Understanding of climate change resilience assessment.Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance for client and regulator-facing deliverables.Programming experience would be advantageous (e.g., Python and/or R) with an interest in developing these skills.Excellent communication skills and ability to write high-quality concise reports.Ability to work collaboratively with other sectors/disciplines to deliver hydrological aspects of challenging projects.Qualifications:A water-focused MSc (e.g., hydrology & water resources, sustainable water management) and a BSc in a related subject (e.g., physical geography, earth sciences, geology, civil engineering).You will have gained, or be working towards, chartership with a relevant professional body.We welcome applicants with varied backgrounds and experiences and encourage you to apply if you feel your experience aligns to roles in the team.What we offer: work-life balance with hybrid working, inclusivity and belonging, health and wellbeing, flexible time options, development opportunities and chartership support, and a supportive environment focused on growth.About us: We are one of the world’s leading engineering and professional services firms, with a global team delivering positive, long-lasting impacts in communities we serve.Note: This description reflects the responsibilities and requirements of the role at the time of posting and is subject to change.Expiry information: If you see this description, it remains active unless explicitly marked as closed by the employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
