Job Title Principal Transport Data Analyst About the Role We are seeking a Principal Transport Data Analyst to lead the strategic analysis, modelling and monitoring of Home to School Transport (HTST) and key schemes within our Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP). This is an opportunity to shape how funding is allocated and evaluated, using advanced data tools to create smarter, more sustainable and efficient services across the county. Responsibilities Develop and maintain detailed Power BI models for HTST & SEND eligibility and cost forecasting Support policy reform and appeals processes through data‑led insight and performance monitoring Analyse discretionary elements such as the Vacant Seats scheme Design dashboards to monitor BSIP performance, patronage, journey time, reliability and modal shift Deliver robust evaluation frameworks and modelling tools for scenario planning and forecasting Ensure alignment with DfT’s Evaluation Strategy, TAG guidance and Green Book principles What We’re Looking For We strongly encourage applicants to clearly show in their application how they meet each element of the person specification. You should have: Proven experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards (or similar analytical tools) A strong understanding of local government policy, funding, and modelling Experience working with transport or comparable datasets Knowledge of data validation, assurance processes and scenario forecasting techniques Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non‑technical stakeholders Experience in BSIP delivery, or AI/Data Science in transport is desirable.
