Job Description Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical author in the UK BAT team you can. Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. We’ve established a process for the definition of BAT within the UK. The regime will use the BAT concept principles of a transparent, collaborative, data and evidence‑led process that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection. Central to this process will be the UK BAT Author. Responsibilities Draft BAT Conclusions and present final documents suitable for publication as a new UK‑wide environmental standard for industry. Liaise with Technical Working Groups to compile and analyse complex industrial data. Write technical documents on LVIC processes and environmental legislation in the UK. Critically analyse technical arguments and data. Use project management skills to complete milestones and deliver results. Travel for meetings and overnight stays may be required. Qualifications At least 5 years of working experience in the LVIC industry and a solid understanding of environmental regulation. Specialist knowledge of the LV industry, process engineering and environmental issues. Good understanding of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation (IED, Environmental Permitting Regulations). Capability to critically analyse technical arguments and data. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong relationship management and ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures. Planning, prioritising and organising tasks and resources to ensure timely and effective results.
