Lead Mechanical Engineer – Atlas Workplace Services Location: London, Higher Education (university environment). Salary: £46,000‑£48,000 per annum (Full‑time, Permanent). About the Role As the Lead Mechanical Engineer you will lead the delivery of all mechanical PPM and reactive maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual SLAs. You will oversee the implementation of AWSL policies, manage permit‑to‑work systems on site, and support the team with technical guidance. Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of mechanical PPM and minor works across the site. Ensure compliance with AWSL safety rules, policies, and permit systems. Provide technical support and guidance to the team and client. Maintain and update the Maximo CAFM system via tablet. Liaise with subcontractors, supervisors, and account support to ensure high‑quality service. Monitor performance and report to the Area Manager. Ensure safe working practices, including LOTO procedures and risk assessments. Support quoting processes for minor works and manage materials/resources efficiently. Participate in the on‑call rota and manage contractor escorts and permits. Qualifications & Training NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Building Services (essential). Legionella (L8) trained and competent. Apprentice‑trained in M&E discipline (desirable). City & Guilds 18th Edition (desirable). Base knowledge of gas and FGAS systems (desirable). Skills & Experience Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role across multi‑site environments. Strong understanding of HVAC, BMS, and mechanical systems. Experience using CAFM systems (e.g. Maximo). Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to manage priorities and deliver under pressure.
