As Director of Early Intervention & Prevention (EI&P), you will be a senior leader within Birmingham City Council's Adult Social Care Executive Directorate Management Team (EDMT). This is a pivotal role, shaping the Council's approach to prevention and resilience across services that touch thousands of lives. You will lead the design and delivery of Early Intervention and Prevention (EI&P) programmes that reduce demand on statutory services including Adult Social Care, Children's Social Care, SEND, and Homelessness. Acting as the Council's strategic voice with the voluntary, community, and faith sector, you will engage with over 4,000 organisations to ensure local provision meets local need. You will drive anti‑poverty initiatives, oversee the Household Support Fund, and champion citizen engagement in service design, while also leading transformation across libraries, adult education, safeguarding, domestic abuse partnerships, asylum and resettlement programmes, and community intelligence. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Adult Social Care and Health, you will work closely with Members, the Corporate Leadership Team, and partners to deliver Birmingham's City Vision and Corporate Plan. This is a role where strategic leadership meets real‑world impact - helping Birmingham become a more sustainable, equitable, and resilient city. Responsibilities Strategic Leadership: Provide vision, direction, and authentic leadership across EI&P, modelling collaborative and inclusive behaviours. Change & Transformation: Design and lead change initiatives that deliver long‑term organisational and service transformation. Citizen Engagement: Ensure citizens are actively involved in shaping services, embedding co‑production and equity. Partnerships & Networks: Build purposeful networks across voluntary, community, and faith sectors, ensuring diversity and equality are central to decision‑making. Resource Accountability: Oversee finance, people, and resources, ensuring statutory compliance and value for money. Service Portfolio Leadership: Lead a wide portfolio including: Early Intervention & Prevention services Asylum, Afghan Resettlement, and Homes for Ukraine programmes Household Support Fund and food aid mechanisms Voluntary, Community & Faith Sector initiatives (e.g., Neighbourhood Network Scheme) Libraries transformation and Adult Education services Domestic Abuse partnerships and Safeguarding Adults Board Citizen‑focused data intelligence and predictive analytics programmes Performance & Delivery: Translate strategic vision into operational plans, monitor progress, and deliver measurable outcomes. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with Members, senior politicians, and colleagues to identify innovative, commercial, and digital solutions.
