Ward Manager The closing date is 08 December 2025 The post holder will be a Ward Manager based within the Crystal Centre on Topaz Ward. Mixed acute ward. Main duties of the job In liaison with the Clinical Manager/Matron, Service Manager, Associate Director and Director to set objectives for the delivery of care within the area and to devise ways of implementing and monitoring these. Work closely with the Executive Nurse in developing nursing practice across inpatient wards. Have knowledge/understanding of the legislation likely to be encountered as part of the role e.g. Mental Health Act 1983, as amended in 2007, Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, Access to Information Act 1986, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Job responsibilities The post holder is responsible for overseeing the assessments of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for service users with mental health needs. The post holder works under the overall management supervision of the Clinical Manager/Matron and is required to undertake the duties of the post autonomously, but with support. Active participation will be required in the training and education of learners allocated to the ward, and will also encourage integration between the ward teams and the community services. To carry out any other duties commensurate with the duties of this post. Person Specification Skills Ability to manage challenging behaviour by listening, showing tolerance and remaining objective Ability to demonstrate a consistent style of clinical leadership Develop team spirit and inclusivity Evidence of personal leadership development Qualifications Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) Minimum 2 years' experience as a Charge Nurse Minimum 2 years' experience in adult mental health Educated to Degree Level in Health Additional Professional Qualification Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
