Exhibitions Technician Company: Wakefield Council Location: Wakefield, West Yorkshire Job Type: Full Time Salary: £28,598.00 to £31,537.00, Grade 6 Expires: 14/12/2025 We are looking for a skilled and driven individual to support the delivery of our vibrant and ambitious exhibitions and displays programme at Wakefield Museums and Castles. Working within the Curatorial and Exhibitions team, and alongside colleagues in the wider Museums and Castles team, you will help to design, build, install and maintain exhibitions and displays across our three museums, two historic castles, and in community venues. You will help to produce exhibitions that are high quality, interactive, multisensory, accessible and inclusive. You will work with specialist tools and equipment in our Museum Workshop to build bespoke exhibitions, using a variety of skills and materials, particularly carpentry and woodworking. You will help to ensure our exhibitions are sustainable and use recycled and recyclable materials wherever possible, contributing to our Wakefield Museums and Castles Environmental Action Plan. You will work within our committed, supportive and highly skilled team, as well as alongside our diverse and passionate local communities to celebrate and share the stories and objects that make the Wakefield district unique. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the delivery of innovative and high-quality exhibitions within a multidisciplinary team. Support the 2D and 3D design of exhibitions, working with the Exhibitions Officer. Safely build and install exhibitions and displays, using sustainable materials and practices. Help maintain a culture of Health and Safety best practice. Ensure high quality visitor experience by delivering an ongoing programme of snagging, maintenance and improvements. Work in partnership and build relationships with a diverse range of individuals, groups and organisations. Work across multiple ambitious projects within time and resource constraints, whilst maintaining patience and empathy. Lead on delegated projects. Wakefield Museums and Castles is a fully Accredited museum service, supported by investment from the Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation scheme. We care for over 112,000 objects that document the human, social and cultural history of the Wakefield district from the distant past to the present day.
