Corporate Tax Manager Location: Chelmsford, Essex Our client is seeking an experienced Corporate Tax Manager to join their growing team in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional to manage a diverse portfolio of corporate tax clients while developing and mentoring junior team members. You will play a key role in delivering high‑quality tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of business clients. Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance Manage the preparation and review of corporate tax returns for a varied client portfolio Oversee corporation tax computations, including group relief claims and quarterly instalment payments Ensure accurate and timely submission of all tax returns and filings in compliance with HMRC regulations Monitor tax payment deadlines and manage client tax affairs throughout the year Tax Advisory Provide proactive tax planning advice to clients on a range of matters including capital allowances, R&D tax relief, and corporate restructuring Advise on the tax implications of business transactions, mergers, and acquisitions Identify tax‑saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimise clients' tax positions Research complex tax issues and provide technical guidance to clients and team members Client Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as their trusted tax advisor Communicate effectively with clients on technical tax matters in a clear and accessible manner Respond to HMRC enquiries and manage tax investigations on behalf of clients Attend client meetings and provide regular updates on tax developments affecting their business Team Leadership Supervise and mentor junior tax staff, reviewing their work and supporting their professional development Delegate work effectively and manage workflow to meet deadlines Provide technical training and guidance to the tax team Contribute to the development of the firm's tax services and procedures Business Development Identify opportunities for additional services within existing client relationships Support the growth of the tax practice through networking and client referrals Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation and communicate relevant updates to clients and colleagues Essential Requirements ACA, ACCA, or CTA qualified (or equivalent) Minimum 5 years' experience in corporate tax, ideally within a professional services or accountancy firm environment Strong knowledge of UK corporate tax legislation, compliance requirements, and tax planning strategies Proficient in tax software (e.g., CCH, Alphatax, or similar) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel Previous experience supervising or managing junior staff members Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters clearly Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple client deadlines simultaneously Desirable Requirements Experience with R&D tax relief claims and capital allowances Knowledge of international tax matters and transfer pricing Experience in owner‑managed businesses and SME sector Existing client relationships or business development experience What We Offer Competitive salary dependent on experience Study support for further qualifications (e.g., CTA) Flexible working arrangements Career progression opportunities Annual leave entitlement Pension scheme Regular training and CPD opportunities Supportive team environment Seniority level Mid‑Senior level Employment type Full‑time Job function Accounting/Auditing #J-18808-Ljbffr
