Translating business requirements into technical solutions with traceability that can be demonstrated to stakeholders. Architecture design through use of architecture modelling techniques and tools to devise and represent. Microservice and API-led architecture and integration design tools, techniques and best practice. Event-based architecture design, patterns (including pub-sub and data streaming), modelling techniques, tools and standards. Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Serverless and Function as a Service and managing cloud resources for scalability, performance, and cost-efficiency. Delivery. Work. Projects. This Senior Technical Architect role at DWP Digital offers the opportunity to work on one of the largest digital transformations in Europe. You'll be designing modern IT architecture that directly supports millions of people through user‑friendly digital services. This role is all about improving how citizens interact with DWP, particularly through contact channels and document management, while ensuring data security and compliance with legal frameworks. You'll provide expert advice, and create solution options across cloud, hybrid, and on‑prem environments. You'll use modern design principles, modelling techniques, and integration strategies including microservices, APIs, and event‑based architectures. Details. Wages. Perks. Location: You'll join us in one of our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle‑upon‑Tyne and Sheffield, whichever is most convenient for you. Travel: Regular travel between hubs is expected as part of the role (travel counts as working time, and your travel and expenses are paid). Hybrid Working: 40% remote, 60% in‑hub collaboration. Pay: Up to £83,917 including a Government Digital and Data Allowance based on assessment. Pension: Civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth £16,786 per year. Holidays: 26-31 days plus public holidays; up to 3 extra days off a month on flexi‑time.
