This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced educator who is committed to helping young people achieve success in Functional Skills Maths and English. The school is inclusive and nurturing, supporting secondary-aged students who may have faced barriers to learning in mainstream education. It offers small class sizes - typically no more than six students per group - with the support of a dedicated Teaching Assistant, allowing staff to deliver highly personalised and engaging learning experiences. The setting promotes positive relationships, resilience, and confidence, empowering every learner to reach their full potential both academically and personally. The Role As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will: Deliver engaging and tailored Functional Skills Maths and English lessons to KS3 and KS4 learners. Plan, deliver, and assess lessons that meet individual learning needs and targets. Work collaboratively with support staff to ensure that every student is able to access the curriculum and make measurable progress. Contribute to the wider school ethos of inclusion, respect, and aspiration. Support learners in preparing for formal assessments, promoting functional literacy and numeracy for life beyond school. Requirements Experience delivering Functional Skills (Maths and/or English) to secondary-aged students. A teaching qualification (QTS, QTLS, or equivalent) is desirable, but experienced unqualified tutors with strong subject knowledge are also encouraged to apply. A patient, empathetic approach and the ability to build trust with students who may have additional needs or challenging backgrounds. Excellent communication and organisational skills.
