It is a very busy and exciting time to join us as we have moved into our purpose built Urgent & Emergency Care Department. Main duties of the job As a skilled and valued member of our team, you will take a lead role in the coordination, planning and delivery of individual care provided by the multidisciplinary team in the department by ensuring the effective management of the department in the absence of the department leader. Provide professional nursing leadership, guidance, and clinical advice to staff members. Assist in the effective operational management of the department and flow of patients within the hospital, concentrating on the provision of quality care for patients. About us Our new Urgent and Emergency Care Department opened in Summer 2023 and has been designed to give the best possible care to patients. The £27m department, which is based in a state‑of‑the‑art was operationally opened on 21 June 2023, and officially opened on 12 July. With its innovative approach to patient flow, high‑spec equipment, ultra‑modern technology and a real grounding in the community through the locally sourced artwork and wayfinding is a redefining jewel in Chesterfield's crown but it's vital that people only visit if they truly need to. Person Specification Qualifications Registered Nurse APLS/ALS course PGD Recognised Triage Qualification Lower limb X‑ray training TiLS PLS or Adult BLS Degree Recognised Leadership Course ALS (for paediatric nurse)/APLS (for adult nurse) Manchester Triage System Advanced trauma course Hip & Chest X‑ray training Plaster training Experience Minimum 3 years experience at Band 5 or above Previous experience of working in an Emergency Department Experience working with adults (For Paediatric nurses) or Paediatrics (for Adult nurses) Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Mentoring / Teaching skills Developed clinical skills Awareness of service improvement Audit / Assurance skills Demonstrates the proud to care values Compassion, Ambition, Respect & Encouragement Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
