DescriptionWe are looking for a guest producer to work on the expanding daytime output on 5 – which includes the Jeremy Vine, Storm Huntley and Vanessa programmes.The successful candidate must have a great contacts book, a strong understanding of daytime debate shows and be full of ideas for guests for the programme.They must also have first class journalism and production skills, a detailed knowledge of consumer affairs and the ability to work under pressure.Key ResponsibilitiesBooking panellists to appear on the show – ensuring we have the right balance each daySecuring guests for consumer items and helping produce those items with either graphics or propsChasing extra guests on the day, including news-making interviews with either politicians or people in the newsBriefing presenters and guestsAssisting the producer with all other elements of the showComing up with ideas for debates, writing scripts and graphicsPutting callers to airMaking decisions on legal issues, and taste and decency, in accordance with Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manualThese are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. It is intended to reflect the nature, range, and context of the work, which will change over time.Key RequirementsA great contacts book with a wide range of guests willing to participate in both debates and consumer segmentsFirst class journalism skills and the ability to spot a good talking pointThe ability to react rapidly to breaking news and quickly book suitable guestsEditorially creative and imaginativeMust have in-depth knowledge of news, current affairs and consumer affairsHighly organised with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently and work quickly under pressureExcellent communication skills (verbal / written / visual) and interpersonal skillsThe highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail around often complex and controversial materialExperience of legal situations and understanding of media law and ITN Legal Compliance proceduresAbility to demonstrate our company values – Transparent, Innovative and Collaborative #J-18808-Ljbffr
