Job Summary We are a friendly team of 15 working in Adult and Paediatric Audiology – this role is primarily as an Adult Audiologist, however there are always opportunities for the right candidates to start working with our paediatric team. We currently have several staff on different HTS Modules in Paediatrics, train BSc’s, MSc’s and are also an accredited training department for the STP, offering another potential route for progression in your career. You will work as a Senior Audiologist seeing a mix of routine and complex adult patients across three sites: Epping, Harlow and Bishop’s Stortford. Main Duties of the Job Actively promote public and patient involvement by seeking input from patients, family members, voluntary groups and other stakeholders. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times. Work as part of a team and with minimal supervision on routine cases, supporting the senior team with complex cases. Support and supervise student Audiologists. Work towards IQIPS accreditation. Plan and prioritise own workload. Work flexibly to cover evening and weekend sessions within contracted hours. Be proactive in own self‑development and maintain a record of CPD. Use computerised and manual methods to update patient records for each examination. Participate in departmental QA and audit programmes. Attend all mandatory training. Be responsible for the safe use of all diagnostic and rehabilitative equipment. Report incidents and/or potential accidents within the department, in line with Trust policy. Perform all standard scientific and technical diagnostic duties in all areas of Adult Audiology, with advanced work in the case load. Take detailed medical and audiological history, interpret test results and explain these to the patient/carer in an appropriate, empathetic manner. Produce detailed reports advising the medical referrer and the patient/carer on management options and agreed treatment plans. Formulate patient‑specific treatment plans for the management of hearing loss. Perform outcome measures using standardised quantifiable methods, such as questionnaires, administered in accordance with protocols. Keep accurate and timely electronic patient records using a computerised patient management system and database. Participate in clinical audit and any ongoing research and development of new techniques within the service. Present complex information to large groups, providing training and relevant audiological information to various professions. Continuous interaction and counselling with patients. Undertake hearing assessments of adults of all ages, including history taking and discussion with the patient/relative. Undertake hearing aid assessments, fitting, validation and ongoing support of patients according to current agreed protocols, including hearing aid verification using Real Ear Measurement systems, RECD and free‑field testing where appropriate. Depute with other team members for the Adult Audiology Team Leader role.
