Front of House VolunteerCarisbrooke Castle Museum is recruiting new volunteers to join our front of house team. Our volunteers play a key role in welcoming visitors to the Museum. Carisbrooke Castle Museum is a separate organisation from English Heritage who run the Castle.Volunteering can offer a great opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people, doing something worthwhile in your spare time with just a few hours making a big difference to the museum and its work. You can also learn about the history of the Castle and the Isle of Wight. No experience is necessary and full training is provided.ResponsibilitiesGreeting visitors at the main museum entranceProviding information about the museumAssisting in the museum shop, handling transactions and documenting salesGreeting and assisting visitors in the museum’s restored "Princess Beatrice's Kitchen"Normally you would be with at least one other experienced volunteerSkillsThe skills we are looking for:You will be welcoming and friendlyAble to communicate verbally with different types of peopleAble to follow simple processes and policiesAn interest in local history (no prior knowledge necessary as training will be provided)Diversity and equal opportunities policyAccessibility—the ground floor only of the museum is accessible. An accessible toilet is available across the castle courtyard.
