The hiring manager is happy for this person to go straight from home to a job, so although the manufacturing site is based in Telford, there won’t be a need for you to travel to Telford before you go out and see customers. We are actively seeking a Service Engineer to join a well‑established engineering business based in Telford, Shropshire. Standard working hours are day shifts Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week). Basic salary up to £40,000 (DOE) with overtime opportunities. Paid at 1.5× for hours over 37.5 per week and on Saturday, double time on Sunday. Bank holidays paid double plus day in lieu. Roles are predominantly mechanically biased (90%), with some electrical experience preferred. Required: Certificate/qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or similar). Preference for experience in recycling industry or heavy engineering environment with heavy machinery or equipment. Company van, laptop, and phone will be provided. What You Will Do Use your skills in welding, fabrication, and mechanical maintenance to address diverse operational needs. Ensure equipment is running smoothly by diagnosing faults and repairing baling machines. Collaborate with colleagues to prioritise and adapt to daily operational demands. Adhere to health and safety best practices to maintain a safe working environment. Leverage your expertise in industrial hydraulics and heavy fabrications to deliver high‑quality repairs. Be prepared to travel for work, both within the UK and abroad, ensuring the company’s operations remain uninterrupted. What You Will Bring Proven experience in manufacturing or factory environments, ideally within heavy industry or the waste sector. Minimum of 3 years experience as a multi‑skilled mechanical engineer. Hands‑on expertise in welding (Stick and MIG), fabrication, and general engineering. Strong technical problem‑solving and analytical abilities to reduce equipment downtime. A clean driving licence and valid passport, with flexibility to travel as required.
