Position: Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Hours: 8:45 am – 3:15 pm, Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)

Location: Leatherhead, Surrey

Salary: £85.00 – £95.00 per day (PAYE)

School Type: Special School supporting primary, secondary, and post-16 pupils with autism and complex needs

Role Overview

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students with autism and complex needs to reach their full potential—academically, socially, and personally. You’ll work closely with teachers and the wider team to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with autism and complex needs.

Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.

Support the class teacher in delivering lessons and promoting a positive learning experience.

Encourage students’ independence, confidence, and personal development.

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Ensure a safe, nurturing, and well-organised classroom environment.

What We’re Looking For

Experience as a Teaching Assistant or supporting individuals with autism/complex needs is desirable — or simply a genuine passion to make a difference

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Empathy, patience, and resilience to support students effectively.

Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

Flexible and adaptable to meet students’ changing needs.

Relevant qualifications in education, special needs, or related areas are desirable (or willingness to work towards them).

Must be commutable to Leatherhead, Surrey.
