Building Estimator

We are currently recruiting an Estimator to work for a small but growing building contractor based in north - east London with a focus on delivering quality work, building strong client relationships, and maintaining a hands-on, collaborative approach across all areas of the business.

Working as part of a team of two, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a variety of building projects ranging from £50k to £1m in value.

You will also be working closely with the owner/ director and senior site team to ensure bids are both profitable and aligned with client expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare cost estimates and tender submissions for building projects, including materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor elements.

Analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost plans.

Obtain and assess supplier and subcontractor quotes.

*

Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements.

*

Help manage variations and cost control during the construction phase.

*

Maintain and update internal pricing databases and cost libraries.

*

Provide input on project planning, procurement, and value engineering.

Requirements

*

Previous experience as an Estimator within the construction industry (ideally for a small or medium-sized contractor).

*

Strong knowledge of residential and/or commercial building processes.

*

Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

*

Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.

*

Good communication and negotiation skills.

*

Proficiency in estimating software, spreadsheets (Excel), and Microsoft Office.

Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates at once
