Health & Safety Engineer, Whitstable, Kent. (Occasional travel to their other Kent site too as/when required) We are partnering with a leading manufacturing organisation to recruit a dedicated Health & Safety Engineer who will support the implementation, management, and continuous improvement of site‑wide HSE policies and procedures. Based at the Whitstable facility, this role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with current legislation, promoting a strong safety culture, and supporting environmental best practice across the factory. Role Overview The successful candidate will be an experienced and qualified Health & Safety professional, capable of providing expert guidance to the management team while maintaining robust systems for health, safety, and environmental performance. This position also has responsibility for environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives across the site. Key Responsibilities Maintain and develop HSE management systems to meet all legislative, accreditation, and directive requirements for the Whitstable site, with occasional attendance to their other site in Kent. Champion a positive health, safety, and environmental culture throughout the organisation. Support the development and execution of the HSE strategy and annual plans aligned to business objectives. Review and update HSE policies, procedures, and guidance in line with best practice and evolving legislation, recommending improvements where appropriate. Ensure all HSE systems, standards, and internal procedures remain compliant and effectively implemented. Support the ongoing delivery of environmental and sustainability initiatives within the business. Coordinate HSE Steering Committee activities, preparing statistical reports for senior management and highlighting trends, risks, and recommended actions. Represent the organisation in interactions with external bodies, auditors, and regulatory agencies. Lead or support monthly HSE committee meetings and collaborate closely with other HSE professionals across the organisation. Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, supporting relevant certifications and accreditations such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Work with the Quality Engineer to review and reduce NCRs, contributing to continuous improvement efforts. Assist with industry and insurance audits as required. Ensure all accidents, incidents, and near‑misses are reported, documented, and investigated in line with company and legislative requirements. Experience Required Proven experience in a Health & Safety role, ideally within a manufacturing or comparable industrial environment. Qualifications NEBOSH qualification (or equivalent experience/qualification).
