SEMH Outreach Tutor / Outreach Teacher (One-to-One Support) Location: Medway - Gillingham, Rochester, Chatham & Surrounding Areas Pay: £23/hour (Unqualified) | From £28/hour (Qualified Teachers/Tutors) Schedule: Monday to Friday | Flexible AM, PM, or Full-Day availability from 9:30am | Term-Time Only Commitment: Full or Half Days (typically 2-6 hours per day) Make a Lasting Impact - One Learner at a Time Are you a compassionate and adaptable educator looking to make a real difference beyond the traditional classroom? We're seeking dedicated Outreach Tutors and Teachers to deliver personalised one-to-one and small group sessions across Medway. This rewarding role supports students who are temporarily unable to attend mainstream education – including those with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), SEND, behavioural challenges or PTSD – through our partner Alternative Education Service in Kent. (Please note: you will be working directly for the service, not the agency.) Whether teaching in a pupil's home, a library or an educational setting, you'll play a crucial role in helping young people rebuild confidence, reconnect with learning and achieve meaningful outcomes. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging, tailored one-to-one sessions in subjects such as English, Maths and PSHE (EYFS‑Year 11, including GCSE and Functional Skills). Build positive, trusting relationships with students and families to support engagement and progress. Adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning styles and emotional needs. Promote academic achievement alongside emotional wellbeing and personal growth. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and session outcomes. Use a range of resources and tools to create dynamic and interactive learning experiences. About You Teaching or tutoring experience with strong skills in Maths and English. Background in supporting young people, ideally those with SEMH or additional needs. Excellent communication, organisation and relationship‑building skills. A calm, patient and empathetic approach to behaviour management. Confidence working independently in a range of community settings. Experience with risk assessments (desirable). An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply – support available). Eligibility to work in the UK. What We Offer Flexible hours to suit your schedule (typically 9:30am‑4:00pm).
