Accountable to: Head of Service Reports to: Lancashire Clinical Managers Closing date: 1st February 2026 Base: Rossendale Minor Injuries Unit (RMIU). The unit operates 8am‑8pm, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. Evening and weekend work will be required. Come and be a part of our amazing team Key Responsibilities Work with and champion the unit in conjunction with Senior Managerial colleagues. Support the Management team and Clinical Manager to ensure all service KPIs and targets are met and continually improved. Maintain mandatory training and pursue CPD for ongoing development. Practice autonomously as an independent practitioner, assessing, diagnosing, treating, referring and discharging patients with minor injury and illness within agreed parameters. Provide advanced clinical skills and advice, ensuring a sound understanding of identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of client groups. Initiate and interpret diagnostic investigations, safely perform invasive and non‑invasive procedures, and undertake telephone triage during weekends. Work within current nurse prescribing legislation and provide professional advice within the multidisciplinary team. Lead improvements to standards of care through audit, evidence‑based practice, supervision, and teaching of professional colleagues. Clinical Focus Areas Assess, treat, and advise patients presenting with health care needs. Provide supervision to the clinical team, assisting and developing their skills. Ensure safe and effective practice within scope of competence and acknowledge limits. Work at an advanced level reflecting the 4 pillars of advanced practice outlined by HEE. Conduct investigatory procedures, including assessment of minor injuries, x‑ray review, and treatment. Develop and maintain clinical, nursing policies, procedures, and protocols. Professional Responsibilities Model standards of care and behaviour, integrating policies and procedures. Analyze relevant local and national policy to advise and implement changes. Maintain professional registration and practice through CPD, preserving a professional portfolio following the NMC competency framework. Prescribe medication in line with professional guidelines, NICE and CKS guidelines. Manage workload, resources, and advocate for patients, carers, and the service. Support workforce integrity, ensure compliance with accreditation, complaints management, and robust clinical induction. Clinical experience within an unscheduled care setting. Non‑medical prescribing qualification (V300). Person Specification – Desirable Recognised training in minor injury / illness, consultation, and examination skills. IRMER / red dot x‑ray interpretation course. Practice assessor certificate. Telephone triage qualification. Experience in a community Urgent Care setting, ED, or an appreciation of primary care prescribing strategies. Innovative practice to deliver patient‑centred care. Evidence of clinical competence across a range of skills including local anaesthesia, suturing, x‑ray interpretation, fracture management. Teaching qualification. Leadership experience and project management evidence. Experience – Essential Minimum 5 years post‑registration experience and a passion for working in an integrated urgent care system. Experience of expert autonomous practice within an unscheduled care setting managing minor injuries of all ages. Health promotion experience. Experience using clinical computer systems, including Adastra. Understanding of current urgent healthcare initiatives and CQC compliance. Ability to work effectively under pressure and within time constraints. Teaching or clinical supervision experience.
