Role Overview The Underwriting Manager leads the Underwriting team, oversees underwriting procedures, fraud handling, and drives process improvement through automation and AI. The role reports to the COO. Key Responsibilities Own and continually improve underwriting policy and procedures. Review fraud‑related cases and determine appropriate outcomes. Provide feedback to Credit Risk on referral quality and improvement opportunities. Drive automation and AI initiatives to enhance process efficiency. Lead a team of human and AI agents to meet underwriting targets. Personally review referrals to maintain SLA. Present key metrics and improvement plans to leadership. Collaborate with Data Science, Engineering, Compliance, and customer‑facing teams to ensure regulatory compliance and positive customer outcomes. Requirements Strong background in underwriting for consumer lending. Experience in a start‑up or fast‑paced fintech environment. Proven track record of improving efficiency through AI and automation. Leadership experience managing cross‑functional teams. Excellent communication skills for stakeholder collaboration. Background in credit cards, personal loans, or buy‑now‑pay‑later products.
