The Programme: An exceptional economics graduate programme places successful candidates in London and Belfast. This two‑year scheme places you in six‑month rotations across our teams: Macro Forecasting; Economic Impact; Macro Consulting; Cities and Regions; Scenarios and Macro Modelling; Tourism Economics; and Economic Footprint & Sustainability. The Role: As an Assistant Economist you will work closely with experienced economists and take responsibility for your work from an early stage. You will contribute to Oxford Economics’ services by working with our large global team of economists on forecasting, policy analysis and bespoke economic impact modelling. As you rotate between teams, you will work on global macro, city and sectoral forecasts, develop econometric forecasting tools, undertake scenario analysis and assist senior economists on consultancy projects. By the end of the programme you will be able to: Apply your formal economics training to real world issues Interact confidently with clients and the media to explain your work Manage your time efficiently and balance several competing priorities Apply a range of analytical techniques and software packages to bring insight Write concisely and with impact on complex issues Teams Macro Forecasting & Analysis (London) Cities & Regions (London) Scenarios & Macro Modelling (London) Macro Consulting (Belfast) Economic Impact (London) Economic Footprint & Sustainability (London) Tourism Economics (London & Belfast) Training Opportunities: Graduate Economists will have the opportunity to partake in formal training sessions designed to support your professional and personal development. You will be supported by comprehensive training on technical and business skills, communication, project management, presentation and advanced econometric and Excel skills. Training will be delivered via short courses, on‑the‑job training and group projects. Working Environment: Hybrid working model – three days in the office and two days from home. Annual global travel to explore interests on a global scale. Regular social events and staff parties. Requirements: A degree in economics or a closely related subject, preferably at postgraduate level; an excellent academic record; fluent English, both written and spoken; a demonstrable interest in economics; some work experience, whether paid or voluntary; the right to work in the UK. Recent graduates with experience in academic research, the civil service, financial services or consultancy are also considered.
