Consultant Hematologist with a special interest Thrombosis

Job Summary Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and self‑motivated Consultant Haematologist with a special interest in Thrombosis to join a full‑time, 10‑day‑per‑week post at the Trust. This replacement post forms part of a team of four clinicians covering all care areas for patients with inherited and acquired bleeding disorders. Context: The Department of Clinical Haematology operates across four sites (Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Newham Hospitals) and is the largest NIHR‑funded non‑malignant haematology research portfolio in the UK. Key Responsibilities Outpatient clinical work at St Bartholomew’s and Newham sites Diagnostic and validation support for our regional referral NHS coagulation laboratory Liaison advice to colleagues within Barts Health services Clinical support for our anticoagulant practitioner service Advice to primary‑care colleagues via our Advice and Guidance portal On‑call duties providing haemostasis and thrombosis advice for Barts Health and referral centres to the Haemophilia Comprehensive Care Centre (currently a non‑resident 1:7 rota) Dedicated time for participation in thrombosis and anticoagulation research projects Contribution to collaborative, ergonomic pan‑Trust guidelines Standardisation of clinic practices to improve patient experience Progression of our data‑driven anticoagulation stewardship programme to improve thromboprophylaxis for 2.5 million East London residents Qualifications / Higher Qualifications (Essential) Full and specialist registration (and licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for registration within six months of interview UK‑trained applicants must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT Non‑UK‑trained applicants must provide evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT FRCPath or equivalent MRCP or equivalent Desirable Higher Research Degree Proven publication record Experience (Essential) Experience in the management of resources Experience in diagnostic and clinical haematology Knowledge and Skills (Essential) Experience managing staff/colleagues and demonstrating change management Disposition / Interpersonal Relationships (Essential) Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and in multidisciplinary teams Physical Requirements (Essential) Ability to work across sites Post Details Number posted 21 November 2025Pay scheme: Hospital medical and dental staffGrade: ConsultantSalary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annumContract: PermanentWorking pattern: Full‑timeReference number: 259‑MED7492729RLH‑ALocation: The Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel Road, London, E1 1BB Disability Disclosure As required by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975, a Disclosure and Barring Service check is mandatory.
