Senior Mental Health Liaison Practitioner - Community Hospitals Join to apply for the Senior Mental Health Liaison Practitioner – Community Hospitals role at Saarthy Travel Solutions. Job Summary Hours per week: 37.5Contract type: 6‑month fixed termJob share/secondment/bank contract considered. Main Duties Provide a visible, accessible presence within community hospitals, offering assessment services to inpatients with a broad range of mental‑health and psychological problems, including specialist assessments for older people with complex needs. Deliver mental‑health training to support Gloucestershire Care Service priorities, enabling workforce and priority groups to provide high‑quality mental‑health services. Provide mental‑health consultation, liaison and advice throughout hospital wards. Deliver evidence‑based psychosocial interventions to patients with current or suspected mental‑health issues. Assist and support community hospital colleagues in complex treatment decisions. Provide formal and informal clinical supervision to registered and unregistered staff. Act as a positive role model promoting social inclusion and equitable health for people living with mental health issues and their carers. Facilitate communication between secondary mental‑health services, primary care and non‑statutory services. Person Specification Essential Significant post‑qualifying experience working with individuals with severe and enduring mental illness. Knowledge of key areas of mental‑health liaison work and core skills required. Experience across a wide range of mental‑health conditions, including depression, delirium, dementia and self‑harm. Experience offering advice and guidance across organisational and professional boundaries. Conceptual understanding of recovery and social inclusion principles and application to clinical practice. Excellent assessment, treatment, and clinical management skills. Desirable Experience in a general hospital setting. Comprehensive knowledge of the MHA and Mental Capacity Act. Experience training or presenting to professionals from varied backgrounds. Ability to prioritise workload and manage resources effectively. Experience working with older people in a clinical setting. Experience in service development. Contract & Remuneration Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 a year (pro rata)Position type: Fixed term (6 months)Working pattern: Full‑time (37.5 hrs/week) Other Information This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
