As a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer, you ll play a key role in leading complex mechanical design projects from concept to production, ensuring quality, safety, and innovation remain at the forefront. You ll mentor talented junior engineers, standardise design systems, and help shape the future of automation within our organisation. What s in it for you We believe in rewarding expertise with a benefits package that supports your life both inside and outside work: Competitive salary aligned with experience and responsibility up to £55,000 per annum Modern Liverpool HQ with a supportive, inclusive environment that values innovation Global exposure across sites in the UK, USA, Netherlands, and Finland Strong investment in professional development and continuous learning Involvement in cutting-edge projects that directly shape the future of logistics and automation Genuine opportunities to progress and influence engineering strategy What you ll be doing Lead the mechanical design of automated and manual loading systems from concept through to production Oversee detailed design, ensuring manufacturability, quality, and compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001, and CE standards Mentor and guide junior design engineers, embedding best practices and promoting a culture of excellence Standardise and optimise designs through continuous improvement and value engineering Provide technical support and analysis for root cause investigations and design improvements Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to align projects with company strategy Support the implementation of DriveWorks and structured design systems What you ll bring Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline Proven experience in mechanical design, ideally within manufacturing, automation, or industrial machinery Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a creative, solutions‑focused approach Excellent communication and leadership skills to mentor and influence others Commitment to environmental and safety standards Desirable: Experience with DriveWorks or similar design automation tools Working arrangements Location: Liverpool (onsite collaboration expected) Hours: Full-time, permanent role Ready to make your mark?
