The National Safeguarding Team provides professional safeguarding advice to the Church of England on matters of national policy as part of its wider transformation plan, which includes the development and implementation of national policy, training, quality assurance and audit, and work with survivors. It also leads complex casework and supports dioceses in safeguarding children and adults. Following a comprehensive redress scheme for survivors of Church‑related abuse, the team is now moving into the implementation phase and is looking for a new Comms & Engagement Manager to help prepare for the scheme’s opening. Key Responsibilities Campaign & communication management. Engage with key programme stakeholders, including victims and survivors, media, senior diocesan and cathedral officers, and NCI staff. Lead on communications for the Redress project, maintaining structured stakeholder engagement. Represent the organisation with detailed knowledge of the project's history and objectives. Support the project team by providing clear direction and purpose for delivery of project priorities, objectives, and outcomes. Requirements 3+ years experience leading communications workstreams on complex, public‑facing programmes. Knowledge of safeguarding and public relations in a cross‑sector environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work under public scrutiny and manage stakeholder relationships at the senior level. Willingness to work up to three days a week in Church House, Westminster, London (Hybrid working). Commitment to a fixed‑term contract until September 2026. Salary and Benefits Salary of £68,999 FTE per annum, plus pension contributions (8‑15% of salary, with employer matching up to an additional 3%). 30 days annual leave plus eight bank holidays and an additional three days (pro‑rated for part‑time).
