If you want to be part of something bigger, this is your chance. What is Building Services Engineering? High‑performance, low‑energy building systems are essential. We at Buro Happold work as part of a global team, balancing clients’ aspirations with engineering and often budgetary constraints, to design high‑performance, low‑energy building systems. We use advanced modelling techniques to analyse the building envelope and its floor layouts. Our innovatively designed systems are then integrated into the building fabric to create functional internal spaces and balanced, controllable conditions. What sort of projects would I work on? You will be working as a mechanical designer in a large project team, or being a project engineer on smaller schemes. You will work on some of the most technically challenging projects in our portfolio – recent examples include: NOMA 4 Angel Square, BASE Building at Manchester Science Park, the School of Digital Arts at Manchester Met University, Space Studios, and the new Everton FC stadium at Bramley Moore Dock in Liverpool. What will I do? Embrace the latest technologies to improve performance and sustainability. Undertake detailed mechanical engineering building services design and calculations, using software and knowledge to verify robust calculations. Ensure service and project work are carried out to an excellent standard – within agreed deadlines and within budget. Prepare technical specifications and schedules, design development reports and innovative design solutions. Plan and manage inputs to CAD for production of design work. Represent Buro Happold at meetings with clients, other professionals and suppliers. We would like to hear from you if you are studying (or have graduated) in any of the following degrees: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Architectural Engineering Building Services/MEP Engineering Degree Internship experience at an engineering‑related firm preferred, and proven interest in the built environment Graduates at Buro Happold When you join Buro Happold you are embedded into an exciting network of engineers and consultants that supports your career development.
