IT Solution Architect – Fareham This is an initial 6 month contract role within our UK IT Business Unit. The IT Solution Architect will be responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions that align with business objectives and technical requirements. This role bridges the gap between business needs and IT capabilities, ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and cost‑effective. The Solution Architect works closely with stakeholders, developers, and project managers to deliver robust architectures that support organisational goals. Solution Design & Architecture to a high standard. Develop high‑level and detailed solution architectures for IT systems and applications. Ensure solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements. Create architectural diagrams, models, and documentation for proposed solutions. Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and technical teams to understand requirements. Present architectural solutions to stakeholders and obtain buy‑in. Assess emerging technologies and recommend adoption where appropriate. Conduct feasibility studies and cost‑benefit analyses for proposed solutions. Define and enforce architectural principles, guidelines, and best practices. Ensure consistency and integration across systems and platforms. Provide technical leadership during solution implementation. Troubleshoot architectural issues and guide development teams. Identify potential risks in solution design and propose mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with data protection and cybersecurity standards. System Design Authority – Broad Oak‑Portsmouth (Hybrid) Lead the technical design for modelling and simulation products, resolving technical challenges and balancing technical risk with cost and schedule trade‑offs whilst ensuring safety and design integrity. Collaborate with external customers / stakeholders to shape project and product requirements and act as an ambassador for Simulation and Training. Hold responsibility for ensuring products are safe, secure and meet contractual, regulatory and legislative requirements. Assist in defining technology and product strategy, driving the utilisation of common technologies across programmes, and ensuring alignment with product goals. Provide technical support to project managers, lead design reviews and act as a focal point for the application of systems engineering within the team. Power System Design Lead Lead the design and development of power systems for engineering projects. Provide technical expertise and guidance on power system design requirements. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure successful project delivery. Conduct risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies for power system designs. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in power system design. Senior Electrical Systems Design Engineer Lead the design and development of electrical systems, including schematics, PCB layouts, power distribution, and control systems. Perform detailed circuit analysis, simulation and testing to validate performance and identify potential issues. Specify components and materials, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry standards and cost targets. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software developers and project managers, to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems. Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, drawings, test plans and user manuals. Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical design and system integration problems. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in electrical engineering, components and design tools. Ensure designs comply with relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior electrical engineers. Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure design excellence. Principal Electrical Engineer – Power Systems Design (Remote) Lead the electrical design of complex power systems, including generation, distribution and protection schemes. Develop detailed engineering specifications, schematics and calculations. Conduct technical reviews and provide expert guidance on electrical engineering principles. Oversee the design process from concept through to detailed engineering, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including mechanical engineers, project managers and clients, to ensure project success. Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers, fostering their professional development. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to electrical systems. Stay current with advancements in electrical engineering technology and propose innovative solutions. Principal Design Engineer – Power Systems (Hybrid) Lead the design and development of advanced power systems from concept to production. Define system requirements, specifications and architectures for power solutions. Create detailed electrical schematics, component selections and layouts. Perform simulations, analysis and testing to validate system performance and reliability. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in power system design. Collaborate with mechanical, software and systems engineers on integrated designs. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineering staff. Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations and quality requirements. Contribute to technology roadmaps and innovation initiatives.
