About the Role (External) Our Shared Services team delivers specialist processes with a direct impact on Network Rail’s performance, including payroll, recruitment, payables, receivables, financial accounting, reporting, controls, compliance and helpdesk support. On the Payments Team, we make payments to suppliers, employees, local authorities, landowners and passengers, processing £12 bn of transactions annually. Main Responsibilities Supporting the various payment activities of the team in a target‑driven environment to meet defined KPIs and SLAs. Acting as the team’s subject‑matter expert for payment escalations, providing solutions for non‑standard or complex payment requests. Supervising and authorising the work of the team by checking transactions processed in multiple payment systems. Ensuring Network Rail policies and procedures are followed to mitigate fraud and maintain good financial control. Working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure compliance with HMRC/tax regulations and sharing knowledge. Acting as a second‑line support contact for query management, aiding helpdesks with complex queries. Building knowledge and documenting processes, keeping them updated with current practice. Challenging current processes to reduce waste and supporting root‑cause analysis to reduce errors and drive continuous improvement. What are we looking for? Experience managing improvement projects and processing high‑volume activity. Exceptional customer focus, engagement, and stakeholder‑management skills. Proven influencing, networking and senior‑management stakeholder skills. Experience in a similar role within an Accounts Payable environment. Excellent communication skills. What could set you apart when applying? Knowledge of related subject areas such as the Construction Industry Tax Scheme. Experience with Oracle eBusiness Suite or Horizon.
