Flexible working patterns, including job share, are available for all vacancies. The Monitoring Data & Systems Team (MDS) manages important Environmental Monitoring systems and datasets. You will join a multi-disciplinary team supporting and learning from colleagues while analysing and improving data that underpins our work. As a Technical Officer you will manage systems and data, support users, and fulfil a multi‑purpose role across Water Quality systems and other datasets. Set up and manage users Support users and resolve issues, especially during the move to the new My Environment application Update, improve and maintain datasets Respond to internal and external data requests Support system improvement and upgrade projects Everyone appointed will undertake required training and participate in incident response duties when needed. The Team The Monitoring Data and Systems Team in Instrument and Systems provides support to the business by maintaining key environmental monitoring systems for Water Quality, Fish, Biology, Ecology, and Water Quantity. We are a friendly, dispersed team of enthusiastic specialists passionate about providing systems and data to internal and external customers. Experience / Skills Required Experience working with large complex datasets Willingness to develop and learn new technical skills and apply them across monitoring data and systems Motivated, organised, friendly, helpful, detail‑oriented, comfortable working in a dispersed team Proactive problem solver Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to convey complex technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences Ability to build and maintain strong relationships, deliver through others and provide excellent customer service Other Desirable Experience / Skills Experience of using and managing environmental monitoring data systems Experience of using PowerBI, Access, Excel, Python, SharePoint Online and R Working knowledge of water quality monitoring Contact and Additional Information Work location is flexible; a base at one of our offices across England and presence there is required. We offer hybrid home/office working; some travel for meetings is expected. Interviews will be conducted via MS Teams towards the end of December / beginning of January.
