MongoDB Site Reliability Engineer at Barclays Join our team as a MongoDB Site Reliability Engineer, where you’ll be at the forefront of designing and maintaining robust, high‑performance systems that power critical financial services. You’ll work on automating operations, enhancing system observability, and driving continuous improvements that reduce downtime and improve efficiency. Responsibilities Provision of technical support for the service management function, resolving complex issues for specific client groups, developing support models and service offerings to improve customer and stakeholder service. Execution of preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software, utilizing monitoring tools/metrics to prevent and address potential issues and ensure optimal performance. Maintenance of a knowledge base with detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self‑service opportunities, and knowledge sharing. Analysis of system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify root causes of hardware, software, and network issues, providing resolution by fixing or replacing components, reinstalling software, or applying configuration changes. Automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity management, front‑office‑specific support, and stakeholder management. Identification and remediation or escalation of potential service‑impacting risks and issues. Proactive assessment of support activities, implementing automations where appropriate to maintain stability and drive efficiency; actively tuning monitoring tools, thresholds, and alerting to ensure issues are known when they occur. Qualifications Experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, and MongoDB administration in financial services. Proficiency with MongoDB features such as replica sets, sharding, backups, performance tuning, and shell scripting. Writing scripts in Python or Bash to automate tasks and reduce manual work. Highly Valued Skills Use of Percona, ClusterControl, CI/CD tools, and automation platforms like Ansible or Chef. Monitoring systems with Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, and running containers with Kubernetes. Building APIs with FastAPI and supporting scalable, high‑performance systems. Other Expectations Advise and influence decision‑making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
