Volunteer Recruitment Support – Nautical Training Corps HQ 1 week ago – Be among the first 25 applicants. Supporting Volunteer Recruitment Across the UK Nautical Training Corps (NTC) is looking for a number of volunteers to support us as we develop and enhance our offer to young people across the south coast and strengthen volunteer recruitment across the UK. The Nautical Training Corps (Registered Charity) was established in 1944 and supported the country by providing opportunities for young people to become active and contributing members of their local communities. In addition, those who were required to serve in the armed forces could use their service time to count towards basic training (Y Entry Scheme). Over the last few years the NTC have been focused on developing organisational resilience, improving process, policy and working practice. As part of this a centralised recruitment team was established to ensure consistency in approach and a smoother onboarding of those willing to donate their time to support the development of young people. We are now seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist us with a range of recruitment and administrative tasks, supporting both the NTC and NSTC Lion, our nationally accredited National Seamanship Training Centre. Work will be based at NSTC Lion, Tipner Lane, Portsmouth, as well as remotely via our digital environment, allowing you to contribute from anywhere in the UK. Tasks may include, but are not limited to: Assisting with UK-wide volunteer recruitment administration Supporting the processing of volunteer applications Taking and disseminating meeting minutes Drafting basic reports using supplied data Maintaining volunteer records Scanning and organising archive documents Digitising historic materials Supporting the function and operations of an RYA Training Centre Required Qualities: As part of the headquarters team, you will need a sense of humour. You will need to be self‑aware, driven, and relaxed enough to wear flip‑flops on super‑hot days. Our volunteers come from a wide range of backgrounds including frontline emergency services, the armed forces, hospitality, regulated services, and many others. This creates a dynamic culture where differences in expertise are celebrated and contribute to the overall strength of the team and organisation – and also make for very interesting conversations around the office. Volunteers will need to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and initial vetting due to the nature of the information they will be handling. Essential Skills and Requirements: The ideal candidate will: Speak and write fluent English Be able to use a computer and carry out basic IT tasks, including internet use Be personable and supportive of the team around them Be proficient in the use of tea and coffee‑making facilities ☕ Have lived in the United Kingdom for at least five years and be able to account for previous residential addresses Be able to provide two references when requested Have at least two hours a week available to undertake the voluntary role Further Information: The Nautical Training Corps (NTC) is a uniformed youth organisation based on the south coast of England. Established in 1944, the organisation aimed to provide opportunities for young people to develop interpersonal and professional skills in post‑war Britain through maritime and seamanship training. With recognition from the Royal Navy, cadets and junior officers were historically able to use their training within the NTC to join the service via the Y entry scheme. In the 21st century, the NTC continues to provide young people from a variety of backgrounds the opportunity to learn, develop, and grow. Cadets enjoy activities including camping, sailing, shooting, archery, and more. Our volunteers are essential to ensuring that we can continue to provide these opportunities, especially to young people who may not otherwise have access to them. Military service is not essential to apply for this role. Those who pass vetting will be able to transfer into alternative uniformed or non‑uniformed roles dependent on skillset, qualification or experience. Applying for the Role: This is a non‑uniformed support role, reporting through the National Recruitment Team to the Vice Commodore, Support and Resilience or their delegated representative. Please send: Your CV A one‑page covering letter outlining your previous experience and your motivation for undertaking the role 📧 Applications should be emailed to: recruitment@ntc.org.uk or made via the LinkedIn easy apply function. #J-18808-Ljbffr
