OUR VALUES IN ACTION Care and Compassion • Quality and Teamwork • Dignity and Respect • Openness, honesty and responsibility BORDERS GENERAL HOSPITAL – MELROSE TD6 9BS LOCUM APPOINTMENT FOR TRAINING (LAT) SPECIALTY REGISTRAR (ST4) – 2 POSTS MEDICINE FOR THE ELDERLY Available from 03 February 2026 – 04 August 2026 £45,504 – £71,550 (basic, placement depends on previous recognised experience) The Role Applications are invited for the fixed term full‑time training post in Medicine for the Elderly at Borders General Hospital, Melrose, Scottish Borders. The post is recognised for training at ST4 level and national eligibility criteria apply, including having passed all parts of the MRCP UK examination (written Part 1, written Part 2 and PACES) and full GMC registration with licence to practice. You will gain experience of the general management of in‑patients in the Medicine for the Elderly ward, clinics, stroke medicine, front door frailty, day hospital, community hospitals, hospital at home and liaison. You will provide a proportion of out‑of‑hours activity including as a Team Leader on the Hospital at Night Team rota, which attracts a 1A banding (50% supplement). Opportunities to participate in the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, perform quality improvement projects and be involved in Medical Education (specifically in Simulation) are available.
