If so, come and join our UK Defence Quality team and play a key role in embedding customer driven quality requirements into our new build programs as a Critical to Quality (CTQ) Engineer. This role is based out of our Rugby (Warwickshire) facility, where travel to our supply chain and other locations can be expected. The role combines hands‑on engagement with cross‑functional collaboration to deliver products that meet stringent defence standards. As a Critical to Quality Engineer, supporting our New Build project portfolio, you will ensure that critical quality characteristics are identified, validated, and integrated throughout the product lifecycle using Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) principles. Your primary role will be to support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), a structured framework of procedures and techniques used to ensure a product meets customer requirements and quality standards, by identifying, translating, and validating said requirements into measurable quality standards that guide design, process development, and control plans throughout the product lifecycle. As the Critical to Quality Engineer, you will work cross-functionally with all stakeholders, including Project Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Supply Chain, to integrate quality into every phase of the product lifecycle, from concept through to delivery. Roles and Responsibilities Ensure close collaboration within the horizontal UK Defence Project team (Project Management, Engineering, Sourcing, Tendering, internal partners and external supply chain, workshops etc.), providing expertise and guidance as required. Define and manage CTQ parameters based on customer specifications, defence standards (e.g. DEF-STAN), and APQP requirements. Quality interface to customer, supply chain and internal partners, participate in customer / key stakeholder APQP engagement sessions. Develop CTQ deliverables and flow-down documentation to ensure traceability from system-level requirements to component-level controls. Support DFMEA, PFMEA activities, and ensure CTQs are integrated into control plans and inspection controls. Develop Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and Capability Studies for CTQ features and confirm CTQs meet customer / program requirements. Non-conformance Report (NCR) coordination as ordering unit / assignment group, lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for CTQ related non-conformances. Monitor CTQ metrics and drive continuous improvement aligned with program goals. Performs Internal Audits within the project Scope & capture audit outputs in the appropriate tools (Gensuite, SSP etc.). Seek, share, and institutionalize best practices and lessons learned across the UK Defence Projects portfolio. Required Qualifications Formal technical and / or quality qualification or practical manufacturing experience. Minimum of 5 years of experience in Steam Turbine and / or Generator Business. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a combination of Quality, Manufacturing, Engineering and Supply Chain environments. Knowledgeable in Advanced Quality Planning (APQP), Part approval processes (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) Proficiency in statistical analysis tools (e.g., Minitab) and quality management systems. Strong understanding of CTQ methodology, 8D problem resolution, FMEA and other related quality methodologies. Desired Characteristics Customer focused in defining quality and establishing priorities. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to deliver effective presentations and educate at all levels of the organization. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Understands the principles of Six Sigma / Lean methodologies. Ability to influence cross-functional business teams and drive quality improvements. Ability and willingness to travel, as required. In this role you will be working on UK Defence projects which requires the successful individual to hold the relevant UK Security Clearance. We will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not have it. Due to the nature of the work an individual is required to be a UK National or a Dual National from an on ITAR country (as approved by the MOD).
