The role requires excellent communication skills, strict attention to detail and a passion for providing imaging of the highest quality. Previous experience working with patients in an eye‑care setting is essential.Post holder must be able to work across a 7‑day week, including bank holidays. The shift pattern (non‑negotiable) is 8 am‑6 pm, including one Saturday and one Sunday shift per roster month. This vacancy is for a fixed‑term contract of 24 months only.Key duties include:Visual acuity assessmentVisual field assessmentRetinal imaging using devices such as OPTOS, OCT, Anterion, etc.Measurement of spectacles using an automated focimeterMeasurement of intraocular pressure using the Reichert Ocular Response Analyzer and iCAREParticipation in virtual technician‑led clinicsUse of the electronic patient record management systemAssistance in intravitreal injections and cross‑linking servicesAdministrative tasks following departmental guidelines and proceduresContribution to the efficient running of all clinics, including opening and closing of the clinic settingCompletion of the successful care certificate within three months of the start dateSafe use and maintenance of all equipmentCommitment to further training as requiredDemonstration of ophthalmic technician duties to others and assistance in training new staff when necessaryParticipation in team huddles and meetingsEnsuring compliance with Trust policies and proceduresWe are at a pivotal point in our history and we require individuals ready to join a highly professional team and make a real, lasting difference to our patients and colleagues.King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching trusts, providing a full range of local and specialist services across five sites.
